Morden Flower & Produce Show

It is with great sadness that we have had to cancel the Morden Flower and Produce Show on 30th August 2020.

The safety of all in Morden, as well as the judges that come from outside the village are of upmost importance. Considering a large proportion of the village attend this fantastic annual event, and having looked at all the options, we felt it impossible to ensure 100% compliance.

We left this decision as late as possible to see in what direction COVID would be going. The feeling is that currently things are getting tighter rather than easing.

We acknowledge how disappointing this will be for many of us. However, I am sure you will understand that health and safety must come first.

We have not gone away though, and we will endeavour to make next year’s show the best ever. You will no doubt have honed your gardening skills this year, so next year’s offerings will be even more spectacular! Any ‘lockdown projects’ can be shown at next year’s event.

We have decided that it would be nice to mark the Show in some way and have come up with this suggestion: if anyone who might have entered the Show would like to photograph one exhibit that they are most proud of on the day of the Show eg flowers/vegetables/handicraft etc and send it to mordenphotoworkshop@gmail.com, they will be published over the weeks that follow on the Morden Parish Website. Anyone from Mary’s junior photography class can also send in their favourite photo to be shown. (Please remember if there are any images with people in, you will need to ensure you have their permission to send)

Here are a few that have been submitted.

Some giant pumpkins from the Swallow family

Tall sunflowers grown by the Rowats

Beautifully made Harry Potter quilt - lockdown project from Bryony

See you all in 2021!
