Morden Church‎ > ‎

Lent groups 2015

Why are we doing this?

This is an opportunity to take stock of where we are as Church, explore what opportunities we have, think about how we are called to enrich our communities, and generate ideas about how we might move forward.

When and where are we meeting? Four 1hr discussions -

Zelston and Bloxworth : The Quibell’s, Springvale

        Tuesdays 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th March: 7:30pm to 8:30 pm

Kingston  : The Chichester’s, Kingston Farmhouse

Wednesdays 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th March: 7:30pm to 8:30 pm

Morden and Almer :  The Bowerman’s, West Morden House, BH20 7EAEA

        Thursdays 26th Feb, 12th, 19th, 26th March: 7:30pm to 8:30 pm

Who’s invited?

Anyone who’d like to be in the discussion is welcome to come along. All the groups will be led by Justin.

What are we going to be doing?

Week 1 – What is our Church like?

Getting a clear picture of where we are and how the Church is perceived by those in the community (not necessarily the same as where we want to be or how we’d like to be thought of).

Week 2 – How is the Church connected to the local community?

Exploring the different groups of people within the villages and what links the Church makes with these different groups and organisations.

Week 3 – The five marks of mission (Teach, Tell, Tend, Treasure and Transform)

A way of thinking about the variety of ways in which the Church is called to enrich its community: helping people to grow in their faith; communicating who we are and what we’re about, looking after people, valuing the world in which we live, challenging social injustice.

Week 4 – Seeds for sowing

Having done the research, what might we do in the future? What resources might we need? Who might be involved? Not all will germinate, but some will bear fruit!
